Arrowood Wines For over two decades, Arrowood Winery has come to symbolize everything that's unique about Sonoma County. Our wines are fiercely individualistic and impeccably balanced. Each bottling is a snapshot of the complex topography, geology and climate of our region. Since the winery's inception back in 1987, the goal was to produce small quantities of hand-made wines from our favorite hillside, bench, maritime and mountain vineyards throughout Sonoma. Over the intervening years we have added new growers to our sourcing arsenal and also developed our own estate vineyard. Since 2006, Arrowood's estate vineyard has been certified organic and many of our contracted vineyards are either organic or sustainably farmed. Summertime Wines Summer is here and now is the time to enjoy the season's pleasures. White wines and rosé are perfect warm weather matches. They are refreshing and easy summer sipping wines. We recommend our 2008 Chardonnay, Russian River Valley and 2009 Gewürztraminer, Saralee's Vineyard. Both of these wines are dry, with good acidity and loaded with fruit. One of our summertime favorites is our 2009 La Rose, Sonoma Valley. The aromas and flavors are overflowing with strawberries, cranberries and raspberries. The palate is crisp and dry. Delicious on its own, this rosé also pairs beautifully with grilled salmon or chicken and summer salads. It can even hold its own against barbecued sausages and meats. Summer is barbecue season and red wines are indispensable when it comes to outdoor grilling. Grilled meats have powerful flavors that are perfectly balanced by bold wines. For a sure bet, pick from our line-up of Syrah. The 2005 Syrah, Saralee's Vineyard is highly aromatic and lively. The 2005 Syrah, Arrowood Estate Vineyard is composed of grapes grown on our organically-farmed, estate vineyard surrounding the winery. The wine is dark, dense and sumptuous. The 2005 Syrah, Kuljian Vineyard is very hedonistic. The palate is full, lush and backed by smooth, well-integrated tannins. Our red Rhône blend 2006 Côte de Lune Rouge is one of the most consistently distinctive and accessible red wine we produce. This may be the quintessential summer red wine.
