About The Wine

For all the same reasons we grow and create great Cabernet Sauvignon in Sonoma Valley, we do so with Merlot. Cooler than central Napa and warmer than western Sonoma, the valley offers the mild conditions needed to produce deep, luscious, complex Merlot. This is a perfect locale for Merlot resulting in wines with grace and suppleness commonly associated with benchland sites.

The vineyard sources for our 2007 vintage are Arrowood Estate Vineyard and Lasseter Vineyards. Our Estate vineyard located at the winery has been organically farmed since 2004 and was officially certified organic by CCOF (CA Certified Organic Farmers) in 2006, as was Lasseter Vineyards. We have long believed in the benefits of organic farming. It is gentle on the environment and the people who work amongst the vines. We also find the wines from organically-farmed sites to be especially vibrant, balanced and expressive. In our experience, the best way to reveal the essential terroir of a piece of land is through natural organic farming techniques.

Tasting Notes

The nose is ripe and luscious with hints of raspberry, dried cherries, licorice, cedar and vanilla. The palate is rich and velvety with great intensity and ripe tannins. This is a rich and complex Merlot that is well balanced through its lingering toasty oak finish.
